Technical realisation and technologies

I've been researching the different technologies we might need for the production of the product.

In our meeting with the client, we learned, that the client does not have any knowledge or any intention of learning MS Access. The client is however familiar with the web and it's common standards.

Therefore, I propose for the administration of the website to be developed using PHP and a MySQL database.
This will obviously result in a more expensive hosting, but will facilitate the administration of the website.

Another reason for us to opt for a UNIX server is the fact that PHP and MySQL would also be used to run the actual website.
This can be done by using Flash to incorporate PHP and XML code, which then looks up content in the database, which would then be parsed back to the Flash movie using receiving XML objects. sounds really complicated, but as far as I know it can be realised without any major problems.

It would be good if Jenny could have a look at this tutorial:
http://www.macromedia.com/devnet/mx/flash/articles/flash_xmlphp.html

Also have a look at:
http://www.phpmyadmin.net
This is a visual interface that is commonly used to create and managed databases and very easy to use. And as far as I know, it is free!

I think that this should enable us to produce the product in the way that we planned.

The SitePal Virtual Agent is apparently able to Speak English, French and German (all female voices) and as it is developed in Flash, it should be able to incorporate it into another Flash Site.
On http://www.sitepal.com, it also says that one of the agent's main features is that it can communicate with any backend programming language (including PHP).

So, from the technical site, I think we're ok, even though the actual development of all of this might take quite long.

If you find any information that contradicts with this, please let me know.

Thanks Markus. But I already looked the most of Macromedia page. Then I really come to the conclusion about our technical plan. Here is what I am going to explain.

From the technical point of view, we are planning to divide the web site into two sections. One is the web site for the end user who is the customers of Elite Company. The other is the web site for the car salesman who has a responsible to update database. Integrating Macromedia Flash with databases is the key issue that fit in the client needs. We are going to provide our client a high standard web site mainly using Flash MX 2004 Professional, which incorporate with a database system. The Flash components that ship with the Flash MX 2004 can create dynamic and engaging Rich Internet Applications (RIA). The administrators who is the car salesman will connect a Flash interface with a MySQL database using PHP scripting.
